I'm a writer and editor with an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and more than two decades of experience working with literary prose — as a writer, as an editor at literary journals, and as a teacher of writing at the university level.
My work has been recognized with fellowships from Yaddo and the MacDowell Colony, a Pushcart Prize nomination, and selection for Best American Essays. I have a completed book-length memoir with literary representation. I've published fiction and nonfiction in EPOCH, The Florida Review, and elsewhere.
I'm currently available for editorial and copyediting work on a freelance basis.
Grammar, punctuation, consistency, and mechanical polish — with careful attention to preserving the author's voice. Fiction and nonfiction, any length.
Sentence-level revision for clarity, flow, and rhythm. Strengthening transitions, tightening prose, and making sure the writing sounds like the best version of itself.
Structural and editorial feedback on book-length work — memoir, literary fiction, narrative nonfiction. Identifying what's working, what isn't, and why.
Story structure and strategy for memoirs and novels. How a book is built — its architecture of time, voice, and form — is often where the real work happens. I help writers understand what their book is doing and how to make it do it better.
Book layout and formatting for self-publishing platforms (KDP, Lulu, IngramSpark). Long-document formatting in Word and Adobe InDesign. Print-ready PDF preparation.
I work remotely and take on projects by arrangement. If you'd like to discuss your manuscript or project, I'd be glad to hear from you.
